How many years was Ottawa seen, quite accurately, as a goalie graveyard? He did a great job breaking up that narrative.

Hopefully Hogberg and co. can channel some of that success.

My favourite moment of Anderson was his first game as a Senator which I was in attendance.. He was late getting to Ottawa after his trade from Colorado. The game had already started and Ottawa had no backup goalie on the bench. Midway through the first period after a break in play Anderson finally came out of the dressing room and took his seat on the bench. This action was all shown on the big screen and the crowd erupted in applause. Andy looked up at the screen to see what was happening and saw the camera was on him. He was surprised and gave a wave to the crowd which then went wild. Years later I had a chance to speak to him about that night Andy remembered that moment well! Good luck Andy, your efforts were really appreciated!

Pretty much from Day 1, given that the expansion rules were so difficult that teams were able to protect 2 goaltenders. It even includes an ill-fated attempt to bring in Dominik Hasek. Here's the run-down of the 18 years of goalie tandems before they traded for Anderson...

1992/93 - Sidorkiewicz-Berthiaume
1993/94 - Billington-Madeley
1994/95 - Beaupre-Billington
1995/96 - Rhodes-Beaupre
1996/97 - Rhodes-Tugnutt
1997/98 - Rhodes-Tugnutt
1998/99 - Rhodes-Tugnutt
1999/00 - Tugnutt-Lalime
2000/01 - Lalime-Hurme
2001/02 - Lalime-Hurme
2002/03 - Lalime-Prusek
2003/04 - Lalime-Prusek
2005/06 - Hasek-Emery
2006/07 - Emery-Gerber
2007/08 - Gerber-Emery
2008/09 - Auld-Elliott
2009/10 - Elliott-Leclaire
2010/11 - Elliott/Leclaire

And since he arrived...

2011/12 - Anderson-Auld
2012/13 - Anderson-Bishop
2013/14 - Anderson-Lehner
2014/15 - Anderson-Lehner
2015/16 - Anderson-Hammond
2016/17 - Anderson-Condon
2017/18 - Anderson-Condon
2018/19 - Anderson-Nilsson
2019/20 - Anderson-Hogberg

There's no question that the Anderson-Bishop-Lehner year was the peak of the goaltending situation... but that Cory Conacher trade goes down as one of the worst trades in franchise history. Personally, I think the current prospect depth is quite strong in Hogberg, Gustavsson, Daccord, and Sogaard, but it remains to be seen if any of them will fare better than the pre-Anderson crowd.

Awesome rundown Khawk! Much obliged for that. Loved Craig for his years, it's really too bad we never really iced a truly competitive roster in front of him, outside of the freak Hamburglar run and making it to the Conference Finals, it's amazing to see what Andy persevered through. Love the guy, loved having him in our city, wish him all the best. You the man Craig.

I agree 100%.

They shouldn't have traded BOTH Lehner and Bishop. Made 0 sense; especially since Bishop and Lehner were both younger

They were pretty poop, but let's be real Sidorkiewicz-Berthiaume might be the worst goaltending duo in NHL history.

+1. He'd be a great backup goalie for a couple more years, I think.

Here's to hoping we can get some stability in nets, not that I expect much from this year, with the rebuild, COVID, and all...

I always felt the "goalie graveyard" tag was not warranted.

Lalime was solid for 4 or 5 seasons and had one awful game. Honestly, some of the playoff series he was involved in had opposing goalies standing on their head.

Rhodes-Tugnutt was a solid duo in the early years of playoff hockey. Fun fact, when goalie equipment in the 90s was being cracked down, Rhodes was one of the few who didn't have to adjust his equipment.

Emery was a very solid goalie but had off ice issues.

Hasek, great signing. Bad injury. What can you really do?

Gerber and Leclaire were awful management choices. Elliot was, well, Elliot.

In my opinion, Ottawa is no where near a grave yard as places like Philly. Other teams have also struggle to get a guy to lock in with.

Andy will go down as the best goalie in Sens history so far but plenty of room to have that spot taken in the future.

Marco Rossi now at 190 pounds.

Have duty frame. Powerful lower body strength.

Still my favourite for #5.

As a hockey fan, I have always appreciated Anderson's game and competitive spirit. He was a credit to the game and to the Sens organization when they needed it...Good Luck Andy..come be a backup for the Sharks for a year
